Dance for two

Couple dancing, slow dancing, dancing together?

I don't work with couple dancing as is common in dance schools. Learn more about my dance concept for couples:

No fixed dance partners

You'll train with alternating partners. You don't need to bring anyone with you. If you'd like to dance with just one person, please bring them along.

Safe physical proximity

Physical proximity and sensual movements serve to promote well-being and individual development. For me, the dance floor is a safe space for physical expression and not a matchmaking tool.

Leading and following regardless of gender

I primarily teach according to the ELEF principle: Everybody leads, everybody follows. This means that all participants gain experience and skills in the areas of leading and following. Depending on the offer, you can then take on the role that suits you best. Good leadership also listens, and good following also has its own voice.

Comfortable clothing and body

Dress as smartly or casually as you like. Movement-friendly clothing and thin soles allow for maximum freedom and connection. Avoiding overpowering odors (bad breath, sweat, strong perfume) is a huge plus when it comes to physical proximity.

Intuitive learning instead of choreographies and counting beats

I facilitate a dance-based connection with you, with the music, and with other people. In addition to physical techniques, I focus on qualities such as body tension and relaxation, grounding, and expression. Dancing together is like a good conversation, and every movement is a word.

Including sensitivity

I offer a relaxed and resource-oriented learning experience. Due to my open teaching approach, most of the offerings are also suitable for people with physical limitations (MS, ME/CFS, post-COVID/vaccine) and generally unimpaired mobility.

Here you can find information on my conditions of participation and the code of conduct.

Topics

  • Authentic Blues Dance

Authentic blues movements and steps will be learned, and insights into the history of the dance will be provided. Anyone who is moved by the blues and wants to delve deeper is welcome. Beyond gender roles, all participants will learn leading and following and can decide along the way, based on their personal preferences, whether they prefer to dance following, leading, or both.

  • Couple dances of the 1920s

From the famous Charleston to the African-American blues to the animal dances in the one-step - solo or in a dance couple: The 20s have a lot to offer on the dance floor!

The original dances embody the new attitude to life of the time, are easily accessible and can be fun!

The couple dance of the Weimar Republic is one of my long-standing research topics. A workshop on these dances offers you a dance journey through time, including historical anecdotes and background information. Different steps and aesthetics of the dances are taught. These are often based on stylised dance walking, playing with dynamics and Afro-American influences.

    Let's dance!

  • Fusion / SlowDance

Fusion dance is a form of contemporary, socially improvised couple dance that combines different dance styles to create a new aesthetic. The dance does not require adherence to certain defined dance styles, but is based on an approach that emphasises musicality, combines existing movement styles and integrates partner techniques such as mindful connection in the dance couple.

In togetherness, an intuitive physical dialogue is created that respects the individuality of both people.

Using elements from African-American blues dance, I give plenty of room for emotionality, sensuality and physical expression. As an Afro-American dance, the blues emphasises improvisation and offers an intensive connection between music, soul, body and fellow dancers.

    Let us connect!

  • Dancing in the dark - Couple Dance inclusive

  • Merengue

The Dominican Merengue is a Latin American couple dance with very simple steps. Its music, with its rousing rhythms, inspires swaying hips. Caribbean music can help you develop your musical skills and expand your dance expression. If you enjoy moving to music, you'll find Merengue a dance that's easy to learn. In this setting, the principles of leading and following, expression, and various figures are learned in relaxed exercises. Away from gender roles, all participants learn leading and following and can decide along the way, based on their personal preferences, whether they prefer to follow, lead, or both. The focus is on enjoyment and well-being through movement and dance expression.

SlowDance Weekend:

Summertime Blues

16.-17. August 2025

🌞 Welcome  to Summertime Blues 🌞

Your relaxed blues dance weekend under the open sky!

Amidst the picturesque backdrop of a park at the Sieg river in Windeck, we invite you to experience the soul of the blues in a natural environment. Registration is possible without a dance partner.

What awaits you?

  • Outdoor dancing: All workshops and social dances take place outdoors - rainproof, so you can enjoy the blues in harmonious connection with nature.
  • Community and relaxation: We focus on the shared dance experience, social interaction, and appreciation of the African-American blues. Our social dances are characterized by cozyness, intense connection, and the pure joy of dancing. Musically, we are inspired by African-American blues from the 1930s to the 1960s. The program includes workshops, a picnic dance, daily social dances, and optional recreational activities such as mini-golf or pedal boating! Consent and mindfulness are very important at this event. We offer a safe dance floor for this purpose. Check out the information on my concept dance for two.
  • High-quality classes: Together with two experienced teachers, I offer carefully prepared workshops. We place particular emphasis on the roots of the blues, mindful encounters within the dance couple, and intense, consensual interactions. The workshop content is designed for participants with previous experience, and there will be an introductory session for beginners on Saturday.

You don’t have any experience with blues dance yet?

There are some videos on my homepage, Facebook page and Instagram. You can tune in to the music with the following playlist:

As the founder of TanzBildung, she has 18 years of experience as a couple dance teacher in modern dance didactics, offering mindful and joyful approaches to couple dance.

In Blues Dance, an intensive, consensual connection in the dance couple, musicality and authentic expression are particularly important to her.

SlowDance Retreat

Feed your soul!

October 3-5, 2025

🌿 SlowDance Retreat 🌿

 Feed Your Soul

Mindful couple dance, embodiment & deep connection

Are you longing for a dance that not only moves your feet but also your heart?

For touch that nourishes you and a place where you can just be yourself?

Welcome to the SlowDance Retreat! Spend a relaxed weekend with a small group of like-minded people in the middle of nature (only an hour away from Cologne and Bonn) - with mindful couple dance, embodiment elements, vegetarian full board and lots of space for yourself.

What awaits you

The SlowDance Retreat invites you into a world of slow dance - sensual, playful, nourishing. With blues & fusion dance we move into mindful encounters in couples - and also devote ourselves to solo embodiment to bring you into contact with your own body.

Every day gives you:

  • Hours full of dance and movement - alone & as a couple
  • Early bird rituals in nature
  • Meals together in a loving atmosphere
  • Social dances in the evening - calm, connected, powerful
  • Gentle evening relaxation - arrive at yourself

Everything is an offer - nothing is a must: you can listen to yourself at any time, take breaks, withdraw or dance on the sidelines. We create a space in which you can feel safe and free.

Who is this retreat for?

This weekend is for you if you:

  • have at least 1 year of experience in couple dance or embodiment
  • are looking for mindful, creative dance - beyond the pressure to perform & perfection
  • want to experience deep connection in dance (and beyond)
  • long for deceleration, nature & soothing community
  • long for relaxation without missing out on music, movement & encounters
  • You don't need a dance partner - openness is enough. We dance with changing partners - respectfully & consensually. Take a look at the information on my dance for two concept.

A safe space for you

We dance in a beautiful seminar house with a light-coloured wooden floor, plants and pleasant lighting - surrounded by fields and forest. Autumn, with its slightly cooler air and colourful leaves, invites you to take a deep breath.

The dance room is equipped for deep processes and relaxation: with mattresses, blankets, cushions and everything you need to feel safe. You will be accompanied by an experienced, caring team (also for emotional processes).

Our daily structure invites you to follow your own needs: You can choose offers with a focus on more energy or more relaxation & self-awareness, as well as solo & in pairs. Depending on the weather, we offer different outdoor sessions.

Culinary & logistics

  • 15 to max. 20 participants - for personal company and real connection
  • Vegetarian full board and tea and fruit bar - lovingly prepared
  • Overnight stay in the seminar house included - for optimal deceleration
  • All content is taught in English, German translation possible
  • Friday to Sunday - incl. social dances, workshops, sharing and closing ritual

A weekend like coming home

The SlowDance Retreat is not a dance festival or workshop: it is a safe, loving space in which you can return to yourself - through music, through touch, through movement. From emotional pain and longing to sensuality and joie de vivre - you can get in touch with what nourishes your body and soul through dance: Feed your Soul!

  • Program

A full-day retreat programme awaits you: In nature and indoors; with you alone, with music, as a couple and in a group. The programme includes a variety of high-quality dance classes and relaxation activities. You can find introductory information on all the content here. The content of the specific programmes will follow in the course of the summer in the schedule.

    Feeling good allowed!

On this weekend, all offers are first and foremost one thing: offers. We invite you to try everything out. If your body needs something different, then look for it and do it. This could be different movements or, for example, creating the framework you need - sometimes on the edge, in nature or in your room. This weekend is for you, not against you.

    _____________________

    Early/Later Bird

This is where you can start the day with mindful physical exercises before breakfast. If the weather is fine, Early and Later Bird take place outside.

    Dance for 2

This class focuses on technique, connection and breathwork in a partnered dancing couple. There are also special offers with blind folds.

We will explore the different facets of blues and fusion dance with Afro-American and cross-genre couple dance principles.

Don't worry if this is new territory for you: you will receive invitations and appropriate impulses to help you find your feet.

A special emphasis is placed on mindful connection in the dance couple: Pleasant dance for two is like a good, non-verbal conversation. We experience this intensive connection, physical communication and the skills required for this in a variety of exercises.

    Solo

You are the centre of attention here. Arrive, feel, become open: Relax and get in touch with yourself and your body through breathing and stretching techniques as well as various dance experiences. In a range of indoor and outdoor activities, you can experience your body and your needs intensively with music. This involves practices from dance therapy, breathing and bodywork.

Musicality, flexibility and creativity are given a range of opportunities to learn, develop and play.

    Social Dance

Every evening there is a cosy social dance. Here you can indulge in blues and fusion dance and relax together. The social dance has a fixed end each day, which is determined according to the needs of the group. This way we all find time for a good night's sleep and you don't have to worry about missing out.

    Fancy Social Dance

On the last evening, you are warmly invited to make yourself fancy - whatever that means for you. Feel beautiful and express this in a fitting outfit. Let's make the last evening a very special one!

    Solo relax

Dancing as a couple can sometimes be quite intense, so your body won't be able to settle down immediately afterwards. At the end of each day, we offer you the opportunity to get in touch with yourself and relax.
