Dance for two
I work with couple dancing, but not in the way that is usual in dance schools. Get to know my couple dancing concept here:
No fixed dance partners
You will train with different partners. You don't need to bring anyone with you. If you only want to dance with one person, please bring them with you.
Safe physical proximity
Physical proximity and sensual movements serve to create a sense of well-being and individual development. The dance floor is a safe space for physical expression and is not used to find a partner.
Leading and following regardless of gender
I teach mainly according to the ELEF principle: Everybody leads, everybody follows. This means that all participants learn experiences and skills in the area of leading and following. Depending on what is offered, you can then take on the role that suits you best. A good leader also listens and a good follower also has their own voice.
Comfortable clothing and body
Dress as smartly or casually as you like. Movement-friendly clothing and thin soles allow you maximum freedom and connection. Avoiding intrusive smells (bad breath, sweat, strong perfume) is a big plus when it comes to physical proximity.
Intuitive learning instead of choreographies and counting beats
I convey a dance connection to you, to the music and to other people. In addition to physical techniques, it is about qualities such as body tension and relaxation, grounding and expression. Dancing together is like a good conversation and every movement is a word.
After a course on African-American blues dancing, there is the opportunity for free training. Authentic blues movements and steps are learned and insights into the history of the dance are given. Anyone who is moved by the blues and wants to delve deeper is welcome. Away from gender roles, all participants learn to lead and follow and can decide on their way according to personal preferences whether they prefer to follow, lead or dance both.
This event is open to contact improv, fusion and couple dancers as well as dance enthusiasts of all levels. After a blues dance course, there is the opportunity for free training. Everyone who wants to be moved by the blues is welcome.
This offer is designed to be particularly inclusive for people who have physical or visual limitations (and are generally not impaired in their mobility). It is also suitable for people who are easily overstimulated or who want a particularly safe setting for dancing together. In Slowdance I offer a particularly mindful space for dancing and physical togetherness.
It is based on African-American blues dance and methods from dance education and therapy:
The Dominican Merengue is a Latin American couple dance with very simple steps. The music of the same name encourages you to swing your hips with rousing rhythms. Caribbean music can be used to develop your own musical skills and add dance expression. If you like moving to music, you will find the Merengue is a dance that can be learned quickly. In this context, the principles of leading and following, expression and various figures are learned in relaxed exercises. Away from gender roles, all participants learn to lead and follow and can decide on their way according to personal preferences whether they prefer to follow, lead or both. The focus is on having fun and feeling good about movement and dance expression.
Wooden and with a view
all day long
You are interested in blues or fusion dance, contact improvisation or mindful bodywork?
You have a passion for soulful dance connection and creative improvisation?
Welcome!
Spend four relaxing days in the countryside; in a small group of people, including overnight accommodation and full board! This long weekend gives you the opportunity to connect with yourself, the music, as a couple and in a group. Away from the routine of everyday life, we dance and relax in a beautiful seminar house in nature - just an hour away from Cologne and Bonn.
Blues
The blues moves us with its diverse expression of feelings: from emotional pain and longing to sensuality and joy of life - you can get in touch with what resonates with your body and soul.
We offer you a safe space for this.
Dance
We connect through dance and mindfulness. A healing and relaxed dance is like a good conversation. Be it with yourself, as a couple or in a group. This weekend, you can experience an intensive encounter with yourself and your fellow dancers, especially in a couples dance. Check out the information on my couples dance concept. Previous knowledge of fusion or blues dance (couples dance) is very welcome, but not a requirement. For newcomers, there is a course with the necessary basics.
We offer you a safe dance floor.
Retreat
With dance and practices from body and dance therapy, we create a space for you in which you can relax. To do this, we use the beautiful dance room with wooden floor, the garden and the surrounding nature. Autumn with its slightly cooler air and the colorful leaves invite you to take a deep breath.Every day is designed so that you can first get in touch with your body and soul. Then you meet as a couple and in a group. Before going to sleep, you are offered the opportunity to check in again and relax.A chef will spoil us with vegetarian meals and fruit throughout the day.
We offer you a safe place to retreat from everyday life.
You don't have any experience with blues and slow dance yet?
Check out the videos on my homepage, Facebook page or Instagram. You can get in the mood musically with the following playlists:
A full-day retreat program awaits you with up to 20 hours of offerings: in nature and indoors, with you alone, with music, together and in a group. There are also up to eight hours of social dancing. This program is worth €280.
Feeling good allowed!
All offers this weekend are primarily one thing: offers. We invite you to try everything. If your body needs something else, seek it out and do it. It can be other movements or, for example, creating the frame you need on the edge of the dancefloor, outside or in your room. This weekend is for you, not against you.

Dance check in
Get out of everyday life and into relaxation! Here you can arrive at your home and get to know the group and the retreat team through dance.
Social dancing
Every evening there is a small social dance. Here you can indulge in the blues solo or as a couple. The social dance has a fixed end every day. This way we can all find time for a restful sleep and you don't have to worry about missing out on anything.
Relax solo
The two-person dance can be quite exhilarating, so that there is no peace in the body immediately afterwards. At the end of each day, we offer you the opportunity to get in touch and calm down with you alone before you go to sleep.
Early/Later Bird
Here you can start the day with mindful physical exercises before breakfast. Weather permitting, Early and Later Bird will take place outside.
Blues intense
Are you new to the blues or would you like to brush up on what you already know? Then you are right here. This class focuses intensively on the African-American aesthetics of the blues that define this dance.
More details to follow.
Just you and the music
At the start of the day, three hours are primarily about you. Arrive, feel, become permeable: In a range of offers, indoor and outdoor, you can intensively experience your body and your needs through music.
Musicality, flexibility and creativity are given a range of opportunities to learn, develop and play. We offer you enough breaks and time out.
More details to follow.
Together together
After you have been able to fully immerse yourself in your body and the music over the morning, you will come into contact here together. We dance the different facets of the blues with African-American dance principles such as improvisation and intuition.
Don't worry if this is new territory for you: you will receive invitations and the appropriate impulses to get yourself here.
A special focus is on the connection between two bodies: Pleasant dancing together is like a good, non-verbal conversation. In a variety of exercises we practice and experience this intensive connection, physical communication and the skills necessary for it. Here, too, breaks and time-outs are integrated as needed.
More details to follow.

Friederike Reif
Since 1998, Friederike Reif (38) has explored around 20 couple dances - from the world dance programme to other Latin and Afro-American dances and contemporary couple dances. Her great love is the blues and related dances.
In her first professional career, Friederike worked for 10 years as a social pedagogue in cultural youth and adult education.
Since 2020, she has devoted herself to working with couple dance.
As the founder of TanzBildung, she offers mindful and joyful approaches to couple dance with 17 years of experience as a couple dance instructor in modern dance didactics.
As a qualified dance and movement teacher and intercultural trainer, she integrates cultural and physical learning into her classes out of conviction.
She will soon be completing her Master's degree in Dance Studies at the University of Music and Dance.
Friederike's research includes the history of couple dance from 1900 to 1940 as well as the further development of couple dance as an inclusive, intercultural and social practice.
Sandra Klümpen
Sanni (39) has been dancing her whole life through various dance styles from ballet, contemporary, couple dance, hip hop to improvisation and expressive dance.
As a dance/movement teacher and nature/wilderness educator, she combines two of her passions. Perceiving (inner and outer) nature as a mirror and using it to express the body is a major focus for her.
During her studies in cultural education, she took part in an intergenerational dance theatre ensemble that illustrates "expression with the body through dance".
In addition to her affinity for dance, she works freelance on the topics of femininity and healing the womb. She also uses tools from the field of dance and movement to help relax the pelvis.
Sanni's workshops invite you to try out new things and switch off your head, get more in touch with your body and give expression to your feelings.
Sarah
Sarah (45) has been a passionate dancer since childhood. She has learnt a whole range of dances, from belly dancing to standard dances and Lindy Hop. In the end, African-American blues dances completely captured her heart and her dancing legs. It felt like coming home, because she grew up with blues and soul music. Blues dancing has been her focus ever since.
Sarah has danced her way through countless international festivals and workshop formats and has been teaching in Cologne since 2018. In 2019, she continued her professionalisation at the Blues Teacher Training of the international blues greats Adamo and Vicci.
Sarah prepares her teaching content meticulously and places particular emphasis on the connection to the African-American roots of the blues.
In her classes she invites you to discover and curiously explore your own body and your own expression of dance.
